Pamela’s tip
If your child has mixed care arrangements, have bag tags printed with "Dad pickup", "mum pickup" and "after school care" with fun graphics. Your child and their teacher can instantly see where they should be or who to look out for - best of all, no tears and no fear of not knowing what to do.
Amanda’s tip
1. Shopping for plenty of snacks and food to last the week.
2. Lunchboxes at the ready to fill the day before.
3. Bags packed with clothes ready to bring out and put on.
4. Drink bottles filled with water.
5. Big hugs and lots of time spent together in the lead up. Most important
Renee’s tip:
Screenshot! Screenshot! Screenshot! When school info comes through via newsletters, school apps, online permission slips, Facebook etc, take a screenshot. Delete the screen shot once you've added it to your calendar. Keep the sceenshots that have the extra info like packing lists or requirements. Screenshots are handy to refer back to when you're doubting yourself. It's great for double checking and it's all kept in your screenshots folder on your phone. Delete as you go or at the end of each term. Thats how I try to stay prepared for 3 different schools in my household!
Rachel’s tip
Freezer snacks! I made sweet snack balls, healthy banana cake bars and healthy carrot cake bars and popped them all in the freezer so I can grab and stash quickly in lunch boxes. They are filling, delicious and have me set up for the next 10 weeks
Tristan’s tip
Take a big breath in. And remember they are kids and have big feelings in little bodies. Set reasonable expectations and remember tomorrow is a new day and you get to do it all over again.
Thanks again to our parents who took the time to share their ideas - and keep your eyes peeled for more tips!
